Music Information Retrieval

چکیده
A huge amount of audio resources, including music data, is becoming available in various forms, both analog and digital. Notes, CDs, and digital resources of the World Wide Web are growing constantly in amount, but the value of music information depends on how easy it can be found, retrieved, accessed, filtered, and managed (Fingerhut, 1997; International Organization for Standardization, 2003). Music information retrieval consists of quick and efficient searching for various types of audio data of interest to the user, filtering them in order to receive only the data items that satisfy the user’s preferences (International Organization for Standardization, 2003). This broad domain of research includes:

متن کاملA Comparison of Language Modeling and Probabilistic Text Information Retrieval Approaches to Monophonic Music Retrieval
With interest in music information retrieval increasing the need for retrieval systems unique to music is also growing. Despite its unique properties music shares many similarities with text. The goal of this paper is to explore some of the capabilities and limitations of current text information retrieval systems as applied to the task of music retrieval. Monophonic music is converted into tex...
متن کاملAnalysis of Pre-Processing Methods for Music Information Retrieval in Noisy Environments using Mobile Devices
Recently, content-based music information retrieval (MIR) systems for mobile devices have attracted great interest. However, music retrieval systems are greatly affected by background noise when music is recorded in noisy environments. Therefore, we evaluated various pre-processing methods using the Philips method to determine the one that performs most robust music retrieval in such environmen...
متن کاملMusic Information Retrieval: Recent Developments and Applications
We provide a survey of the field of Music Information Retrieval (MIR), in particular paying attention to latest developments, such as semantic auto-tagging and user-centric retrieval and recommendation approaches. We first elaborate on well-established and proven methods for feature extraction and music indexing, from both the audio signal and contextual data sources about music items, such as ...
متن کاملText Information Retrieval Approach to Music Information Retrieval
This MIREX submission for symbolic music similarity task adopts textual information retrieval methodology in the process of music information retrieval. The main contribution of this approach is to utilize well established term weighting methods for text retrieval and check their suitability for music data. We use a simple feature extraction method, so that the performance of an algorithm depen...
